Our tip today is: "Know your camera"
Now that you have the vision and the perspectives, its time to shoot! but the problem is that you dont know how to shoot
Aperture is the opening of the lens. The larger the diameter of the aperture, the more light your lens collects. Small "F-stop" values are equivalent to large diameters of aperture. For example, in "low-light" places, you will need to increase the aperture to a large value (eg: F2.8)
Shutter speed is the amount of time that the shutter is open. Obviously, if the shutter is kept open for a longer time, more light is collected in the lens. So, for "low-light" places, you will need a slow shutter speed to allow more light to be collected. of course you will need a tripod!
Aperture and Shutter speed work together. If you want to catch a moving object, increase the shutter speed (less light will enter), and increase the aperture (but this will then allow more light to enter).
That is all, so briefly.
I will remind you that the information here will be collected in a news article after a few days. Here is our previous news article [link]

The Weather Contest !
This contest is hosted by #SkyAndNatureClub and co-hosted by #Feature-Club and #dALinkSystem
The weather describes whatever is happening outdoors in a given place at a given time. Weather could be rainy, snowy, foggy, sunny, cloudy. The weather also includes tornadoes, thunderstorms, rainbows, etc..
This will hopefully strengthen the relationships between the two groups, and it will help the photographers and the commenters improve their skills
Page-Views Mini Contest !
The mini-contest occurs every 1,000 Pageviews. Next is 265,000 pageviews , screenshot it and send us the picture in a note with the number of pageviews
Note: You get a double feature (10 of your works) when you print screen the club at pageviews that are divisible by 5,000! For example: 145,000 - 150,000 - 155,000 and so on..

Devious Comments
I've read you are considering 1 submission per month.. You could make one every week and make categories. Example 1 - 7th marsh, 7-14 and so on. Or you could do every two weeks, so 1- 14 marsh close all previous categories.
If you want that people keep submitting, you could make a weekly day where everyone is free to submit just 1 work and put that in a 'weekly featured' folder or something like that.
You can base your 'feature' logs with the best works of people ONLY from the 1-14 or 1-7 marsh or something like that, categoric.
Its only a tip, consider it, or not. I hope this helped either way ^-^.

Big hug from Little Leia
we have 2 folders. 1-14 and 16-30
Thanks Leia. It's the opposite actually. We want to raise the limit to 1 per 4 weeks, because we had a feeling the submissions were too many on the members.
We will see what to do

But you could make mini challanged, without prices but just make a little theme and people can submit their work there. Just for the members to have the feeling they can really contribute.
And something more silly to suggest, but perhaps another (group) admins. Since i do see you spending a lot of time to keep this group as lively and up-to-dated as you can, but with not enough hands, i understand it could give the daily frustrations.
Either way, no problem ^-^

we will think about these mini challenges, thanks for the suggestion ^_^
ya no problem, i am trying to keep up. the other admins are also helping
Thanks Leia

Oh and high F-numbers in broad daylight bring out very nice sharp images! Also, I use only ISO 100. It's a bias I've acquired. Low ISO = better quality, less noise. Is this alright?

You don't need to thank me for faving your work.
Thanks a lot

i'll try my best.
for shutter speed, i don't like it staying open too long for waterfalls. like what geak-of-nature said, sometimes they look too foamy. i also found that slight changes in aperture can make a huge difference to a photo. i took a shot of a small falls today that was in the shade but light from the sun was just coming through a little. when i took my first one using a tripod to keep it still, it came out a little dark and some of the colors where the sun was hitting were dull. i lowered the F-stop by either 1 or 2 numbers (i apologize but i cannot remember the exact numbers), and it made a great difference in the photo. the colors and gold of the sunlight were clear and the falls were just the right amount of flow.
this subject is a little harder to talk about then the last since i am not used to it entirely. experiment and look for online tutorials for your camera. i know Nikon offers full camera tutorials on their site for each model. i'm sure youtube could be helpful to a point too
i will recommend one thing though when taking photos outside and working with shutter speed/aperture: go out at either dusk or dawn so you don't get too much overkill with the light. it's easier to work with and you get some cool shots at those times too^^
