Club Information: December 21, 2009
Hello SkyAndNatureClub!
We have some great news for you today!

so read carefully!!! (Contest info below, and gallery info above

)

First of all, we changed the way we count weeks. Starting from today:
Weeks start on Sunday and end on Saturday !The exception is this week. It starts today (monday) and ends on Saturday.

As you are all aware, we have been working in the background trying to figure out the best system for gallery submissions. This group is on beta-stage, so we are still working hard to find a system that will work for a long time.
Lately, we were discussing limiting the number of deviations we submit, allowing only a few a day and a lot of other ideas... 450 submissions a week is a lot ! I mean, we currently feature the submissions every 2-3 days, but with lots of submissions, we will need a "features blog" nearly everyday ! We were really forced to NOT allow all submissions we get, so we have a new system:
Starting Today, we will be implanting this system to try out and see how it goes.
This new system is on TRIAL. If you have any thoughts about it please post, we want feedback since we want to have the best for all of you!
We are going to have 2 categories you can submit to.
Category 1 - Gallery
Submissions that qualify will be added to the gallery.
(info about this below)
Submissions to the gallery need a 4/5 or 5/5 to be added
(info about this below)
Only 1 submission per member per week is allowed here.

Best 10 Deviations featured 1 time a week.
Category 2 - Collections
Submissions that do not qualify will be added to the collections.
(info about this below)
2 deviations are allowed per member per week.
(If you have submitted to the gallery in some week, you cant submit to the collection of that week)
No voting is required to be added to the collections.

All deviations featured 2-3 times a week.
(so, you dont have to worry about not being exposed.)Note: submissions that do not qualify to the gallery will be submitted in the collections, and they will be featured in a blog. You can also submit directly to the collections
For gallery submissions:What we would like to try with all of you is have a
rating system. In this system, we will have 3 voters from the staff. Each voter will vote once on every piece submitted to the gallery section.
The voting will be given to the jobs of 3 because we want a broader selection so we don't drop out any type of art.
The rating is on a scale of 1-5. To be accepted into the gallery, your deviation must have a 4/5 or 5/5 from the voters.
How we will vote is also set up to be fair to everyone. We wont be strict! We are not voting on if we like it, but instead on its quality.
1 - Is the deviation Nature Related ?
1 - Is the deviation Well focused ?
1 - Is the image clear, pristine etc. ?
1 - Originality – Is the artwork fresh or new in its style, execution or approach? Is it something we haven’t seen before in its particular genre? Does it surprise us?
1 - Technique – Was the artwork skillfully created? Does the artist exhibit advanced knowledge of the medium and/or bring special focus to the craft of the medium used.

We believe that this system will allow us to get all deviations shown without clogging message boxes, and without making anyone unhappy. Again, we were forced to change the system from accepting everything to accepting some. This is for your benefits

This system is on TRIAL. We will try it this week, and then we will see how it goes at the end

So let's review briefly:
There are 2 submission areas, the collection and the Gallery. Submissions to the gallery require 4/5 or 5/5 to be accepted. Submissions to the collection will not be voted on. If you submit to the gallery, and it does not get 4/5 at least, we will be submit it to the collections. You can directly submit to the collection without first submitting it to the gallery.
Just a note: Submissions to the collections WILL be exposed to the members. We will feature them 2-3 times a week. Whether you submit to the gallery or to the collection, you will get views

Thanks for being patient and for sticking with us through all of these changes! Remember, we only want the best for everyone !

If you have a suggestion, question, objection, doubt, or anything, please note us!

Best,
*

Wouldn't it be tons easier on you? And wouldn't it mean fewer deviations for us to view (which the number is now driving everyone crazy). Wouldn't it bring you back to one of your original intentions which was to also showcase the work of artists who aren't yet good but who will thus get exposure, encouragement and therefore learn?
It wouldn't be hard to memorize and get used to all your rules and criteria if we only belonged to one Group each, but these new rules make that difficult when we belong to several. And even through I just read your rules, I can't figure out how to submit to the Gallery and/or the Collection without going back and finding your comment to someone where you explained it.
Right now writing this I honestly can't even remember if it's the Gallery submissions you will be judging or the Collection submissions. Busy members might put off submitting to your Group rather than having to re-read everything and they'll just end up submitting to Groups where all you do is click on the word "submit".
I'm sorry. I guess you'll consider me a complainer but it's just that I'm a very organized person at home and at work and I'm not getting why it has to be so complicated for you and for us. As it is now, according to polls, only one-half of the members are happy with the new Group system.
BTW, I'm not talking about the way you explained the changes because you're better than anyone when you explain things. Also, I do realize you said that these new rules aren't set in stone.
Thanks for your opinions. they are very useful for us. This groups system has caused lots of trouble to everyone , lol. Well, we will work it out
now that the week has ended, i will discuss it with the other admins. Then, i will write a new blog with what we've decided to do

the truth is that's a little overwhelming with the current system.

The destiny is the result of unexpected events. Challenges prepare you to handle important events, give you the chance to dream and the assurance that life has sense.
